Another Great Auction
This collection comprises several late Victorian and Edwardian sterling silver items, including three pierced cup or glass holders and a small funnel. The holders are designed in the Rococo Revival style, featuring intricate reticulated work with C-scrolls, floral foliage, and figurative scenes. One holder depicts putti or cherubs in a garden setting, while others show birds amongst dense scrollwork. Each holder is fitted with a small handle. The items bear hallmarks from the Birmingham Assay Office. One holder is marked with the maker mark S.B.&Co for S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd, alongside the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for Birmingham, and the date letter F for 1905. Another holder bears the maker mark W.C for William Comyns & Sons, with the lion passant, Birmingham anchor, and the date letter c for 1902. The funnel and the remaining holder bear additional hallmarks that are partially obscured.
