An antique double-ended open-ended spanner of railway interest. The forged iron tool features a central handle stamped with the capital initials LYR, identifying it as former property of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. This major British railway company operated independently until the 1923 grouping. The spanner consists of a single piece of forged metal with two fixed open ends of differing sizes.
