A vintage decorative figurine depicting a recumbent black cat playing with a red ball, in the style of designs produced by Bretby. The cat is rendered in a playful pose with a tilted head, wearing a thin red collar that matches the colour of the ball. The piece is manufactured from ceramic or chalk as indicated by its textured surface and areas of surface oxidation. The finish consists of matte black paint for the body and a glossier red paint for the ball and collar details. A single pale green and yellow glass-like eye with a black pupil is visible. The underside contains two raised characters cast into the metal, which appear to be an E and a 3.
