Buyer's Premium:

A First World War Imperial German Model 1916 (M16) steel combat helmet. The shell features the distinctive high-domed crown and extended neck and ear guards characteristic of this model. Two external ventilation lugs are positioned on either side of the crown, which also served as mounting points for the optional Stirnpanzer armoured brow plate. The interior retains a partial leather liner assembly, consisting of a leather band and fragments of the three-pad system, secured to the shell by three split rivets. Degraded remnants of a leather chinstrap are attached to the internal M91-style mounting posts. The shell is constructed from stamped steel and shows significant surface oxidation. No manufacturer marks or size stamps are currently legible due to the level of corrosion.
