Another Great Auction
A hand-wrought Middle Eastern water vessel, commonly referred to as an aftaba or ibrik, constructed from copper with applied brass decorative bands. The bulbous body displays visible hand-hammered planished marks and significant remnants of a silvery-coloured tinned coating. It features a scrolling wrought handle and a hinged conical lid surmounted by a stylised finial. The construction shows traditional metalworking joining techniques. No maker’s marks, signatures, or inscriptions are visible on the exterior surfaces.
