A late Victorian or Edwardian Pewter-mounted glass hip flask manufactured by James Dixon and Sons of Sheffield. The item features a curved rectangular glass body with the upper section encased in stitched black textured leather. It is fitted with a removable drinking cup at the base and a matching screw-thread cap. The exterior of the silver cup and the top surface of the cap are decorated with chased and engraved foliate scrollwork and floral motifs. The interior base of the silver cup bears several stamped marks including the maker mark J D and S, the Sheffield crown town mark, an obscured date letter (likely u for 1912), the manufacturer pattern number 7333 Y, and the capacity mark 7/16 PT.
