A mid-century modern sapele mahogany sideboard produced by Gordon Russell Limited. This model, known as the Double Helix, was designed by David Booth and Judith Ledeboer in 1950 and famously exhibited at the Festival of Britain in 1951. The one-piece cabinet features two doors decorated with a distinctive incised white double helix pattern. The doors are fitted with circular brass ring-pull handles. The interior is divided into two compartments; the left side contains a fixed wooden shelf with a contoured cutout for bottle storage, while the right side houses a single wooden cutlery drawer lined with dark felt and fitted with internal dividers. The piece is supported on four tapered legs. It bears the original manufacturer’s metal label to the internal frame, which reads GORDON RUSSELL LIMITED BROADWAY WORCS and features the Russell of Broadway craftsman logo.
