A Victorian circular cast iron decorative plate or fruit dish, manufactured by the Coalbrookdale Company of Shropshire. The piece features a central medallion with a radiating sunburst pattern, surrounded by a border of thistles. This is set within a square frame containing four lozenge-shaped panels; two panels display pairs of heraldic lions flanking a central pedestal with a trident finial, and two contain scrolling figures. The wide outer border is composed of complex openwork foliate and floral scrolls, with fleur-de-lis motifs positioned at the cardinal points. The reverse bears the cast maker mark COALBROOKDALE in a circular format on the central boss.
Diameter: Approximately 29.5 cm.
