This sculpture is a reproduction of Antonio Canova’s Venus Italica, produced by the studio of Italian sculptor Amilcare Santini. The figure is cast from bonded marble or a resin-based composite with a matte, off-white finish. The standing female figure is depicted in a modest pudica pose, clutching drapery to her chest. Behind the figure’s right heel is a square ornamental feature resembling a pedestal or box, decorated with a scroll relief motif. The sculpture stands on an integral circular base which is incised on the side with the maker’s name A. SANTINI. The entire piece is mounted onto a square, black-veined marble plinth.
Height: 42 cm.
