This figurative sculpture is a 20th-century reproduction of the ‘Sittande lapp’ (Sitting Laplander), a work originally created in 1909 by the Swedish artist Christian Eriksson. The piece depicts a reclining figure wearing heavy garments and a soft hat, leaning against a naturalistic form resembling a log. The work is cast in resin with a metallic bronze finish, featuring a variegated patina of dark brown and golden-brown tones. The integrated base is incised at the rear edge with the markings © NL 78, indicating manufacture by Naturecraft Ltd in 1978. The sculpture features a textured surface that mimics traditional bronze casting.
