A mid-20th-century silver rectangular desk box, likely intended for cigarettes or cigars, measuring 7 inches by 5 inches. The hinged lid features a central inset British coin, the obverse of which depicts Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The surface of the lid is decorated with a fine engine-turned geometric pattern surrounded by a plain, polished border and is fitted with a shaped thumbpiece. The sides of the box are plain and polished, and the piece stands on four shaped bracket feet. The interior is wood-lined and finished with a green baize lining. Small impressed hallmarks are present on the upper edge of the box rim, but they are not clearly legible in the provided photographs.
