An Arts and Crafts period trinket box of rectangular form, constructed from wood and clad in dark-patinated metal, possibly pewter or darkened copper. The exterior features applied copper-plate overlays in scrolling and foliate designs, secured with visible small rivets. The lid is set with a large, oval, cabochon-cut stone, likely agate, housed within a high bezel. The stone displays a small, light-coloured, incised square-shaped mark on its surface. The box opens on internal brass-plate hinges to reveal a fine-grained hardwood interior, possibly mahogany.
