A pair of Victorian-style glass mantle lustres, possibly of Bohemian origin. Each piece is crafted from deep amethyst-coloured glass over clear glass using a cut-to-clear technique. The design features a flared, scalloped upper rim decorated with a row of circular thumbprint cut-outs that reveal the clear glass beneath. The body is shaped with vertical facets leading down to a baluster-form stem and a wide, flared circular foot. Each lustre is adorned with a series of hanging, faceted clear glass prisms. These droplets are composed of small octagonal buttons connected by wire to long, pointed prismatic drops. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the pieces.
Height: 35.5 cm.
