Buyer's Premium:

An archive of documents and technical publications primarily dating from the interwar period through to the 1960s, housed in a period leather suitcase. The collection is associated with Wing Commander Reginald Herbert Stocken (1893 to 1985), a World War I pilot and aviation consultant, as evidenced by a Royal Air Force Service and Release Book (Officer), R.A.F. Form 2520C. Handwritten details in the book identify the rank as Wing Commander, personal number 18077, initials R.H., and surname Stocken.

The collection includes multiple technical Air Publications and manuals, such as The Siskin IIIA Aeroplane Jaguar Engine, Avro Biplane Type 504K, The Hart Aeroplane (2-Seater Day Bomber), and a Handbook on the 100 H.P. Monosoupape Gnome Engine dated 1915. Several of these manuals bear the handwritten signature of W. J. Nicholson.

Civilian aviation ephemera includes documents from the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators, such as a First Dinner of the Livery programme and an Alan Cobham Prize Paper from 1966 titled Aspects of Sight and Reach in a Civil Aircraft by Captain Frank H. Hawkins. Also present is a Central Flying School Association Register of Members (Golden Jubilee Edition 1912 to 1962), an International League of Aviators by-laws booklet printed in Paris, and a Flight Navigator’s Licence issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The archive is contained within a brown leather suitcase, which features the initials M . I . M . applied in black ink to the lid.
