A lot consisting of two mid-20th century travelling trunks. The first is a large rectangular steamer trunk of plywood construction covered in a grey-green textured rexine material. The body is reinforced with black-painted metal bands and corner brackets, secured with brass-coloured studs. It features three brass-tone metal latches to the front, including two spring-loaded draw-bolts and a central circular lock mechanism. The top and front are stencilled with the name ALEX SMITH. Several handwritten paper labels are adhered to the exterior, with the address reading: A J N SMITH, 132 HIGH STREET, BENTLEY, DONCASTER, SOUTH YORKSHIRE. The second item is a rectangular metal box, likely a uniform or deed box, fabricated from sheet metal with a black painted finish. It has a hinged lid with a hasp-and-staple catch and a wire carrying handle to the side. A paper label is attached to the front catch with twine. Both items share provenance from Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
