A pair of religious figurines depicting St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of lost causes. The figures are constructed from hand-painted cast plaster, commonly known as chalkware. Each figure displays the traditional iconographic attributes of the saint, including a staff held in the right hand, a medallion featuring the Image of Edessa on the chest, and a red flame above the forehead representing the Holy Spirit. The figures are dressed in cream-coloured tunics with green cloaks adorned with gold-toned decorative borders, standing on integral rectangular gilded bases. The style and execution are consistent with the work of Italian workshops such as Ferrari and Arrighetti, though no maker’s marks are visible.
