A mid-20th-century striking mantel clock manufactured by Smiths Enfield. The clock is housed in a dark brown, mottled Bakelite phenolic resin case, designed with a rounded arched top and a broad, stepped base. The circular cream-coloured dial features black Arabic numerals and a black minute track, protected by a glass cover within a chrome-plated bezel. It displays decorative black metal hands and two winding apertures, indicating a twin-train mechanical movement for timekeeping and striking. The dial is printed with the maker’s mark Smiths Enfield to the centre and Made in England below the 6 o’clock position. The clock is accompanied by a separate metal winding key.
