A Chinese portable triptych shrine of columnar form when closed, opening to reveal three panels decorated with high-relief scenes. The interior central panel features a seated figure of Amitabha Buddha surrounded by a host of bodhisattvas, disciples, and arhats set within a celestial landscape. The two flanking panels continue the theme with additional religious figures and architectural motifs. The exterior of the panels is decorated with molded lotus blossoms and columns of Chinese characters. The inscription in relief reads Nanwu Amituofo, a common Buddhist invocation. The shrine is constructed from a dark composition resin material designed to resemble carved hardwood and is joined by four brass hinges.
