A rectangular Russian lacquer box crafted from papier-mache in the traditional style of the Fedoskino school. The hinged lid features a hand-painted scene depicting a ballet pas de deux, likely from Swan Lake, with a ballerina in a white tutu and feathered headpiece alongside a male partner in a dark tunic and light grey tights. The scene is set against a moody, dark green background and finished with a high-gloss lacquer. The interior of the box is finished in a traditional vibrant red lacquer. In the bottom right corner of the lid, there is a signature in cursive Cyrillic script reading Федоскино Сергеев, which transliterates to Fedoskino Sergeev, identifying both the artistic centre and the individual artist.
Length: approximately 14 cm.
