A circular, wall-mounted presentation plaque awarded for forty years of service. The plaque is constructed from cast metal with a high-relief design set against a black-painted ground. The central design features a stylized draped scroll with the embossed text FOR LONG SERVICE. Below the scroll, the plaque is engraved and painted with the recipient’s details: 1915 – 1955. ARCHIBALD HARRY GILLETT. 40 YEARS. To the left is a square logo for THE UNITED STEEL COMPANIES LTD surrounding a stylized STEEL emblem, accented with raised oak leaves and acorns in relief. The lower right features a scrolled ribbon inscribed APPLEBY-FRODINGHAM STEEL COMPANY. Appleby-Frodingham, located in Scunthorpe, was one of the largest steelmaking concerns in the United Kingdom and a major subsidiary of United Steel Companies Ltd.
