A late 20th-century Russian lacquer casket, crafted from papier-mache with a black-lacquered exterior and a traditional bright red-lacquered interior. The lid features a hand-painted scene in the Fedoskino style, depicting a Boyarynya (noblewoman) in ornate traditional dress, including a red headdress and a blue shawl decorated with gold-leaf scrollwork. The painting displays fine line work and shimmering metallic highlights. The sides of the box are embellished with a gold-painted cross-hatched pattern. An interior paper label is titled РУССКАЯ КОЛЛЕКЦИЯ (Russkaya Kollektsiya – Russian Collection) and identifies the object as ИЗДЕЛИЕ : ШКАТУЛКА (Izdelie: Shkatulka – Product: Casket). The label features the handwritten title БОЯРЫНЯ НА КРЫЛ… (Boyarynya na kryltse – Boyarynya on the Porch) and is signed РОГАТОВА (Rogatova). It is dated 28 12 91 (28 December 1991).
