An oval Russian lacquer trinket box manufactured from hand-painted papier-mâché. The lid features a miniature portrait of a mother and child executed in a classical style. The exterior of the box is finished with a marbled mahogany-coloured lacquer, while the interior is coated in a vibrant red lacquer. The lid miniature is framed by a delicate gilded border. Inside the lid, the box bears a gold-stamped factory mark consisting of the name Fedoskino in Latin script, the Cyrillic Федоскино, and the troika (three-horse carriage) emblem, identifying it as an official production of the Fedoskino factory.
