A large-format educational pull-down wall map produced by George Philip and Son, Limited, London, and distributed in the United States by the Denoyer-Geppert Company of Chicago. The piece is dated by a printed copyright mark of 1957. The map is divided into two primary thematic sections. The left-hand portion is titled The Journeys of St. Paul Illustrating the Acts and the Epistles at a scale of 1:2,400,000. This section details the four major missionary journeys and the voyage to Rome using a series of colour-coded dashed and dotted lines, and identifies the Seven Churches of Asia. The right-hand portion is titled The Growth of the Early Christian Church in the Roman Empire at a scale of 1:6,000,000, utilising shaded regions to illustrate the expansion of Christianity from the 1st century through to 395 A.D. The map features the boundaries of the Roman Empire under Constantine. Printed inscriptions in the lower right corner include Copyright 1957, George Philip and Son, Limited, Printed in Great Britain, and Denoyer-Geppert Company, Chicago, Sole U.S.A. Distributors. The map is constructed of a printed substrate with a protective finish, mounted on wooden rollers at the top and bottom.
