A matching pair of earthenware baluster-form vases featuring a vibrant yellow-ground glaze with characteristic fine uniform crazing. Each vase is decorated with hand-painted polychrome enamel scenes depicting figures, including scholars and children, rendered with expressive features and detailed robes. The necks and shoulders are embellished with horizontal decorative bands of traditional geometric diaper patterns and stylized floral motifs in a palette of iron-red, gold, and green. The foot of each vase displays a corresponding band of geometric ornamentation. The overall decoration incorporates elements of export-market Satsuma-ware and traditional figural themes common in late 19th to early 20th-century Asian ceramics. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the main bodies of the vases.
