A portable frequency meter manufactured by the Philco Corporation for the United States Army Signal Corps, dating to circa 1943. The instrument is housed in a rectangular metal case with a black crinkle-finish exterior, featuring a hinged lid, a metal latch, and a top-mounted carrying handle with a textured black grip. The unit sits on four circular rubber feet. The internal control panel is finished in black and comprises several rotary knobs, including a blue knob labelled BRILLIANCE and a yellow knob labelled FOCUS. The panel also features two toggle switches, multiple socket connectors, and two metal grab handles. A circular cathode-ray tube display is positioned at the top of the panel. A nameplate on the side of the case is inscribed: SIGNAL CORPS U.S. ARMY FREQUENCY METER BC-906-D SERIAL NO. 478 ORDER NO. 5759-WF-43 PHILCO CORPORATION. Inside the lid, a red-insulated lead with an alligator clip is secured by a metal bracket. The unit is fitted with a grey power cord and a vintage brown circular plug.
