A 1970s sterling silver-filled figurine designed by the sculptor Horatio Scappatori and produced by Douglas Saunders. The sculpture depicts a seated, turbaned satyr or humanoid figure with a heavily textured, hairy body. The figure is positioned amidst a cornucopia of organic forms including bunches of grapes, citrus slices, and various berries. The piece is constructed with a sterling silver surface over a weighted core, commonly referred to as silver-filled. The side of the figure is incised with the signature H. Scappatori. The lower rim of the base is stamped with the word FILLED and a full set of British hallmarks including the leopard head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, the date letter s for 1973, and the maker mark DS for Douglas Saunders. The base is finished with a dark protective felt.
