A rectangular lidded box constructed from finely woven strawwork, featuring geometric patterns to the exterior surfaces. The interior of the lid contains two separate framed compartments, each housing a small hand-coloured print. One print depicts a figure beside a red and yellow circular emblem, while the other shows a figure in traditional attire with a decorative headdress. These prints are set within recessed frames made of multi-coloured straw-work strips in shades of green, yellow, and brown. The construction and materials are consistent with Napoleonic prisoner-of-war work from the late 18th to early 19th century. No maker’s marks, brand names, or country of origin markings are visible.
Length: 9 cm (3.5 inches).
