A set of four vertical rectangular wall panels of Vietnamese? origin, featuring a continuous narrative landscape scene. The panels are constructed from wood with a polished black lacquer finish, decorated with intricate mother-of-pearl shell inlay and painted landscape elements in shades of green, blue, brown, and ochre. The decorative programme depicts a village procession and rural life, including figures in traditional Vietnamese dress playing gongs and drums, a central banyan tree with detailed aerial roots, a figure on horseback crossing an arched stone bridge accompanied by a ceremonial parasol bearer, and a village gate structure. The scenes are enclosed within inlaid mother-of-pearl borders featuring a repeating floral and cruciform pattern. The figures and botanical elements exhibit fine incised detailing to the shell. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible. The reverse of each panel is finished in a plain dark lacquer.
