A modern oil on canvas depicting a continental street scene. The composition features a white-washed building with blue shutters in the background, set behind a prominent display of potted sunflowers and dried grasses in blue ceramic vases. The work is executed in a heavy impasto technique with thick, textured brushwork used to define the floral elements and architectural details. No signature is visible on the face of the painting; however, the lower right corner of the reverse stretcher bears partially legible handwritten characters that appear to read TOLSTE followed by an illegible mark. The canvas is stretched over a modern wooden frame and secured with staples. The piece is housed in a substantial dark wood-finished moulded frame with a silver-toned inner slip.
