A bronzed tripod censer of compressed globular form supported on three short, rounded knob-like feet. The vessel is divided into two sections by a wide, encircling band featuring a relief-cast scrolling foliate or floral design. Below this band, the lower body is decorated with radiating, stylised petal or drop-shaped motifs terminating in small spheres. Above the central band, the shoulder consists of an openwork lattice formed by similar radiating supports, allowing for the ventilation of incense smoke. The piece is fitted with two small, simple loop handles. The separate lid features a central openwork design and a small loop finial. The interior shows grey and white mineral deposits from use. The base exhibits circular machining marks. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible.
