A glazed earthenware figurine of a standing lion, rendered in a stylized folk-art aesthetic. The figure is depicted in a walking pose with its head turned slightly to the right, featuring a heavily textured mane and a long tail resting against the hind leg. The body is finished in a vibrant golden-yellow lead glaze, with the mane, paws, and facial features decorated in a mottled, sponged-on reddish-brown glaze. The base of the paws reveals the unglazed ceramic body. A small yellow adhesive label is present on the lion’s left flank bearing the handwritten characters 5174. The surface is characterised by extensive fine crazing throughout the glaze.
Length: 25.5 cm.
