A vintage animalier style figure of a standing horse, likely of mid-20th century construction. The sculpture is formed from a composite or wooden core entirely wrapped in hand-stretched black leather, which is secured with visible stitching. The horse is modelled in a lifelike standing pose with the head turned slightly towards the offside. It is fitted with brown leather tack comprising a simple bridle, reins, and a textured saddle pad secured with a girth strap. The tack is detailed with small brass-toned metal fittings, including a small D-ring at the rear of the saddle. The surface of the black leather has been finished with a dark, polished patina to simulate the horse’s coat. The underside of the hooves is flat and unlabelled.
Height: 32 cm.
