A large cast iron doorstop of half-round, hollow-back construction, modelled as a standing duck upon a textured semi-circular base. The figure is depicted in a naturalistic pose with the head turned slightly to the left and the beak angled downwards. The piece is finished in polychrome paint, featuring a pale yellow body, a textured dark blue wing patch, and an orange-yellow beak and webbed feet. The integral base is finished in a mottled dark green and black to simulate a natural ground. The interior casting remains unpainted, showing the dark grey metal surface with some accumulated surface oxidation and marks consistent with the manufacturing process. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible to the front or the interior of the casting.
Height: 30.5 cm.
