A Staunton pattern plastic chess set manufactured by House Martin. The set consists of two-tone pieces in cream and black, featuring traditional Staunton forms including weighted? bases with protective felted undersides. The collection is housed in its original two-part rectangular plastic box with a simulated wood-grain base and a slip-on tan lid. The lid is decorated with gold-tone printed graphics depicting a knight and a swallow motif. Verbatim printed text on the lid reads: “Staunton”, “CHESS”, “No. 0143”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”, and “HOUSE MARTIN”. The interior of the box features a central divider to separate the opposing colours.
