A wooden printers’ type tray of rectangular form, designed for the organisation of movable letterpress type. The tray is constructed with a solid wooden frame and a plywood? or hardboard? backing, featuring an internal grid of various sized rectangular compartments. These partitions are formed by thin wooden slats, which are reinforced at their intersections by small metal? pins or staples. A dark metal? cup handle is centrally mounted to one of the long edges, facilitating its use as a pull-out drawer within a larger cabinet. The interior shows evidence of historical workshop use with natural wood grain variations and accumulated dust.
