A George III silver Maundy penny dated 1780. The obverse features a right-facing laureate bust of the monarch, with the visible inscription GEORGI[…] III visible at the upper edge. The coin is struck in silver and exhibits a circular form with a milled edge, though the edge is partially obscured. The coin is housed in a clear plastic protective flip containing a paper insert printed with the text MAUNDY PENNY 1780. This denomination was traditionally issued for the Royal Maundy ceremony. The surfaces display heavy, uneven dark toning and areas of surface grime.
