A white metal snuff box of domed circular form, featuring a hinged lid that covers approximately two-thirds of the upper surface. The lid is decorated with chased and engraved foliate and scroll motifs, set against a stippled ground. The container appears to be constructed from a base metal alloy, possibly nickel silver or similar, as it lacks British hallmarks. The interior retains a significant amount of fine brown powder residue, likely snuff. The base is impressed with the maker’s name FURNISS LTD above SHEFFIELD and MADE IN ENGLAND, accompanied by the number 21 and two circular stamps containing an F and a stylized bird or G symbol.
