A yellow metal mortar and pestle set of heavy cast construction. The mortar features a flared rim with six prominent, tooth-like flanges extending from the upper body. The exterior surface is decorated with hand-chased patterns; the upper section displays a repeating scale motif with circular punch marks, while the lower section is decorated with an interlocking foliate geometric pattern. The accompanying pestle is of baluster form with a flat-topped pommel, featuring matching interlocking engraved decoration to the grip. The underside of the mortar base bears an incised inscription in Arabic script reading امباركش. The metal shows extensive signs of age with a darkened patina and areas of green oxidation to the lower body and base.
