A collection of three antique charcoal-burning box irons constructed from heavy cast iron with wooden grips. The group includes two irons featuring D-shaped wooden handles mounted on curved cast iron supports and one iron with a turned horizontal wooden handle set into a decoratively cast openwork bracket. The irons are designed with internal chambers to hold hot coals, accessible via hinged lids. One iron is notable for a decoratively cast latch in the form of a bird, while the others employ simple sliding or pivoting latch mechanisms. The bodies of the irons feature characteristic ventilation apertures and serrated edges along the lids to facilitate airflow. A raised circular emblem is visible on the rear of one iron, though the characters within the mark are not legible due to surface oxidation.
