A pair of novelty candlesticks of animalier form, each designed to resemble the leg and webbed foot of a waterfowl? such as a duck or gull. The pieces are cast from a white metal alloy, featuring an intricate textured finish that simulates natural scales on the tapering shafts and fine webbing between the three forward-pointing toes. Each candlestick terminates at the top in a flared, hollowed-out socket designed to accommodate a taper candle, with the rim finished in a textured pattern resembling ruffled feathers. The feet are mounted onto circular integral bases, the undersides of which are fitted with black felt? padding and four protective circular bumpers. The exterior surface displays a dark patinated finish throughout to highlight the cast detailing.
