A decorative flintlock pistol? patterned after North African or Ottoman Moroccan firearms. The wooden stock is dark-stained and elaborately carved throughout with scrolling foliate and floral motifs. The decoration is further embellished with small, teardrop and crescent-shaped white organic material? inlays and traces of yellow metal wire. The pistol features a mock flintlock mechanism constructed from iron with a simplified hammer and steel. The octagonal breech transitions to a round barrel profile. Decorative white metal fittings include a deeply chased pommel cap and a matching side plate opposite the lock, both featuring scrolling relief work. The trigger guard consists of a simple curved metal band. No maker marks or inscriptions are visible on the metal or wooden components.
