The central design comprises a red enamel circular band with white lettering reading KINGSTON UPON HULL FIRE BRIGADE surrounding a blue enamel shield. The shield displays three silver-tone crowns arranged vertically, representing the crest of the city of Kingston upon Hull. The second item is a winged fire service cap badge, featuring a similar eight-pointed star overlaid with stylized vertical wings. The central shield contains a light blue vertical band to the left with three golden ship motifs, and a red field to the right with three diagonal golden stripes. The shield is surmounted by a textured golden dome or mural crown. The reverse of the winged badge is fitted with a horizontal slider for attachment.
