A small wrought iron chest? / strongbox? of rectangular form, constructed from heavy-gauge iron sheets joined with visible rivets. The box features a hinged, slightly domed lid secured by a large, decorative iron hasp designed for a padlock. The exterior is embellished with hand-chiseled and stamped folk-art motifs, including stylized leaf panels within oval borders on the front and lid, geometric borders of circles and zig-zags, and a six-pointed floral star to one lower corner. The chest is raised upon four tapered, conical iron feet and features a heavy swinging iron handle mounted to the lid via a decorative backplate. The interior is unfinished, showing the raw hammered surface and internal rivet heads. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible on the object.
