A hand-carved wooden decorative object modeled after a traditional Balkan opanak shoe. The piece is fashioned from a single block of hardwood?, possibly walnut?, with a medium brown stained finish and an aged patina. It features characteristic folk-art chip-carving, including a cross-hatch or checkered pattern across the vamp, a repeating triangular sawtooth border around the ankle rim, and linear incisions along the edges of the sole. The form is defined by a deep, hollowed-out interior and a prominent, delicate upturned beak at the toe. The underside is flat and undecorated, showing the natural grain of the wood. The interior shows rough tool marks from the initial hollowing process.
