A collection of Royal Navy and maritime related insignia and memorabilia, primarily associated with naval training and diving branches. The group includes a black silk cap tally with the text H.M.S. GANGES embroidered in gold-coloured thread. Several fabric uniform patches are present, including a Royal Navy diver’s trade badge embroidered in gold bullion wire on a navy wool ground, featuring a traditional heavy-gear diving helmet flanked by six-pointed stars. Further patches include a Royal Naval Association blazer badge, an H.M.S. Ganges crest badge with the motto WISDOM IS STRENGTH, and a Hampshire County badge featuring a Tudor rose surmounted by a crown. A maritime souvenir patch for Cote d’Azur is also included. The lot features a large quantity of brass uniform buttons, each decorated with a fouled anchor surmounted by a crown; some examples bear a maker’s mark to the reverse, though the characters are not clearly legible. Additional items include a blue and silver-tone enamel pin badge reading R.N.P.S. SINGAPORE, a red and white plastic nameplate inscribed DRAKE, a brass tag stamped DIVING STORE, and a spent brass shell casing. The collection is housed within a vintage circular Mackintosh’s Quality Street confectionery tin featuring illustrated scenes.
