An Edwardian sterling silver and cut glass vanity jar or scent bottle. The vessel features a cylindrical clear glass body with an octagonal profile and wide vertical facets. It is fitted with a circular press-fit silver lid decorated in an ornate late Victorian style repoussé pattern, featuring a central flower head surrounded by acanthus leaves and scrolling C-scrolls against a finely stippled background. The side of the lid bears a suite of British hallmarks including the maker mark W.B.& S in a quatrefoil shield, likely for William Devenport (William Birmingham & Sons)?, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the lowercase date letter k corresponding to the year 1909.
