A sterling silver four-slice toast rack of geometric Art Deco design. The piece features five angled, octagonal-profile wire divisions mounted upon a rectangular frame supported by four small, rectangular feet. The construction is minimalist and typical of the period’s aesthetic. The side of the base frame bears a series of four punched hallmarks: a rectangular punch containing the characters ‘B.B.S Ld’, an anchor symbol, a lion passant, and a lowercase ‘p’ in a shield cartouche. Based on the diameter of the one-pound coin present for scale, the rack measures approximately 7.5 cm to 8 cm in length.
Weight: 60.65 g.
