The lid is decorated with bright-cut engraving featuring a central vacant oval cartouche framed by a border of geometric swags and patterns. The interior retains a bright finish and shows the construction of the integrated hinge. The base is struck with a horizontal row of four hallmarks including the maker’s mark L.B within a rectangular cartouche, the lion passant for sterling silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, and the lowercase date letter u in a shield. The item is accompanied by its original black leatherette presentation case, the silk lining of which is printed in gilt with the Royal Coat of Arms and the retailer’s address: JEWELLERS BY APPOINTMENT, H.L.
