A heavy brass belt buckle cast in the form of the ‘Death’s Head’ insignia associated with the 17th Lancers (17th/21st Lancers). The buckle features a central skull and crossbones motif above a curved ribbon scroll. The scroll contains the relief-cast motto DEATH OR GLORY in capital letters. The item is constructed from sand-cast brass with a distinctive textured surface and deep recesses to the orbital and nasal cavities. The reverse features a fixed rectangular belt loop and a single curved prong for securement. The design and construction are consistent with military commemorative or civilian adaptations of the famous ‘Death or Glory Boys’ regimental badge.
