A late 19th or early 20th-century ladies’ needlework and vanity compendium presented in a rectangular travel case bound in red textured leather with a gilt-tooled border. The interior is lined with royal blue velvet and white gathered silk, featuring a central tool manifold and blue silk ribbon retainers. The set comprises a pair of steel embroidery scissors with decorative loops, a white metal thimble, four blue-tempered steel needles with gilt ends, and two steel bodkins. Included are three tools with mother-of-pearl handles featuring carved foliate designs, comprising a stiletto, a crochet hook, and a button hook, alongside a folding pocket knife with mother-of-pearl scales. Two original paper needle packets are present; one features a blue and white floral design with a shield marked 3/7, and the other is a Celebrated GOLD EYED NEEDLES packet bearing the British Royal Coat of Arms. The interior hinge area is gold-blocked with the text WARRANTED SHEFFIELD CUTLERY. The case is secured by a decorative brass swing-latch.
